What to expect when working with us as a participant
As all our work is built on mutual trust, we encourage you to get in touch directly with any questions or concerns so we can resolve them promptly.
Shanel Winning, Principal Psychologist
These terms apply to all services you participate in with Winning Performance (“we/us”). They are shared as part of the booking process and always available on our website, where the most current version is maintained. By taking part in any service or continuing to engage with us after receiving (or being directed to) these terms, you (“the participant”) are considered to have accepted them. These terms override any other terms unless we’ve agreed otherwise in writing.
These should be read alongside our Client Terms in situations where you are both the participant receiving the service and the client paying for the service.
1. Recruitment Assessments
- You’re completing assessments and a feedback conversation voluntarily as part of a recruitment process. You’ve been told what to expect and can withdraw at any time. If you’re unwell, need more time, or require any adjustments (e.g. due to a disability, condition, or personal circumstance), please let us know before you begin. We’ll work with you and the organisation to find a fair solution.
- You’ve been given access to practice materials to help you prepare for any supervised assessments, if relevant. These are designed to help you understand the process, though they may not match the exact format or difficulty of the actual assessments. Before you begin, you’ll have a chance to review example questions and ask any questions. Please ensure you complete the assessments on a computer, not tablet or phone, in a quiet space that is free from distractions. If you don’t have access to a suitable setup, let us know – we’ll help find a solution.
- The feedback conversation is part of the assessment and is not confidential. Anything discussed may be included in the report or shared with the organisation to support their decision-making.
- A psychologist will prepare a report based on your assessment results and feedback conversation. This will be shared with the organisation that requested the assessment and provided only to authorised individuals involved in the recruitment process. The organisation is expected to consider this alongside other relevant information (e.g. interviews, references). You won’t usually receive a copy.
- After the process ends, you can request a Development Report. This is a paid, development-focused summary of your results, for your own use. It is not intended to be shared with potential employers.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only for the purpose of this recruitment process. It will only be shared with authorised individuals involved in recruitment. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).

Please ensure you complete the assessments on a computer, not tablet or phone, in a quiet space that is free from distractions. If you don’t have access to a suitable setup, let us know – we’ll help find a solution.
- A psychologist will prepare a report based on your assessment results and feedback conversation. This report is for you. It won’t be shared with anyone else unless you give us permission to do so. If shared with your organisation, they’re expected to use it only for development purposes – not for decisions related to performance, promotion, or employment.
- The feedback conversation is confidential. We won’t share what you say unless you give permission or we are legally required to do so (e.g. to prevent serious harm).
- You can reschedule or cancel at any time. If you give us at least 72 hours’ notice, there’s no charge. If less notice is given, we may invoice 50% of the session fee. Face-to-face sessions changed at short notice will usually be delivered online instead.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only for the purpose of this development process. It will only be shared with others if you give us permission. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
3. Development Planning Sessions
- You’re participating in development planning voluntarily as part of a development process. You’ve been told what to expect and can withdraw at any time. If you require any adjustments (e.g. due to a disability, condition, or personal circumstance), please let us know. We’ll work with you – and your organisation if relevant – to find a fair solution.
- You can reschedule or cancel at any time. If you give us at least 72 hours’ notice, there’s no charge. If less notice is given, we may invoice 50% of the session fee. Face-to-face sessions changed at short notice will usually be delivered online instead.
- The purpose of this session is to co-create a development plan that aligns your goals with the organisation’s needs. You’ll lead the conversation, supported by your chair or manager and psychologist. This plan will guide your development efforts and any coaching that follows.
- The development planning session is not confidential. Because it involves your chair or manager, anything discussed may be shared or noted in your development plan. We’ll still aim to create a safe and constructive environment where you can speak openly.
- Your assessment results may be referred to during this session, but they won’t be shared directly unless you’ve given us permission. You may choose to verbally summarise key insights from your report for your chair or manager.
- Your development plan will be drafted after the session and refined with your input. It may be shared with your organisation (e.g. through their HR system) and used to track progress over time. It’s designed to support your growth and may evolve as your role and goals develop.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support your development. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
4. Development Review Sessions
- You’re participating in a development review voluntarily as part of a development process.
- The purpose of this session is to provide an opportunity to reflect on your progress, celebrate successes, explore challenges, and update your development focus areas if needed. You’ll lead the conversation, supported by your chair or manager and psychologist.
- The development review session is not confidential. Because it involves your chair or manager, anything discussed may be shared or noted in the review summary. This summary may be shared with your organisation (e.g. through their HR system) to support your ongoing development. We’ll still aim to create a respectful and constructive environment where you feel comfortable reflecting openly.
- Your development plan will be referred to during this meeting. You may also choose to reflect on your assessment results or coaching learnings, but we won’t share these unless you’ve given us permission.
- If further coaching or support is discussed, we’ll confirm next steps with you following the meeting. Any follow-up work will be guided by mutual agreement and aligned with your goals.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support your development. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
5. Coaching Sessions
- You’re participating in coaching voluntarily as part of a development process.
- Coaching is a collaborative process focused on development, wellbeing, and performance. Your psychologist’s role is to help you reflect, challenge your thinking, and explore new approaches – not to judge, give answers, diagnose, or act as a therapist or advocate. Coaching may also draw on your assessment results, 360 feedback, or development plans to help you set and work toward meaningful goals.
- You’re responsible for your own growth. We’ll support you to clarify your goals and experiment with new approaches, but your progress depends on what you do between sessions.
- Coaching is not therapy or crisis support. If something comes up that’s outside the scope of coaching, we may suggest other forms of support. We can help point you in the right direction if needed.
- Sessions are confidential. We won’t share what you say in coaching unless you give us permission or we’re legally required to do so (e.g. to prevent serious harm). If your organisation asks for a progress summary, we’ll agree together what – if anything – will be shared.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support your development. Notes may be taken to help track themes, outcomes or actions. These are stored securely and not shared unless required by law or ethical obligations. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
6. Workshops
- You’re participating voluntarily in this workshop. You’ve been told what to expect and can withdraw at any time. If you require any adjustments (e.g. due to a disability, condition, or personal circumstance), please let us know. We’ll work with you – and your organisation if relevant – to find a fair solution.
- This is a group session, and not confidential. While we aim to create a safe and respectful space, other people will hear what is said, and key themes may be captured in notes or shared summaries.
- You’re not required to share anything personal. You can choose how you participate and what you’re comfortable sharing.
- We may refer to aggregated survey data (e.g. High Performing Team Survey) during the session. While individual responses may be shown, they will not be attributed to specific people.
- If a discussion on personality or values is included, your assessment results will only be shared with your permission. You’ll be given a range of consent options and we’ll work to the lowest level of comfort – which may be sharing nothing at all. We ask all participants to respect each other’s privacy and not share personal information from the session outside the group, unless explicitly agreed.
- If the workshop is cancelled by the organisation with less than 20 working days’ notice, a cancellation fee may apply in line with our Client Terms (https://winningperformance.co.nz/terms).
- Your information will be stored securely and used only for the purpose of the session and related services. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
7. Onboarding Sessions
- You’re participating voluntarily in an onboarding process facilitated by a psychologist.
- This is a future-focused, developmental process designed to clarify expectations, support mutual understanding, and set the relationship up for success from the outset. We aim to create a safe, respectful environment where all participants feel comfortable contributing.
- The process may include a review of psychometric assessments, individual preparation sessions, and a joint session with your leader, chair, or team, facilitated by a psychologist. Your participation in each step will be confirmed with you in advance.
- If you’ve completed a psychometric assessment as part of your recruitment, the organisation may already have access to your results. These won’t be shared more widely unless you give us permission.
- The joint session is not confidential. Key discussion points will be summarised in a written agreement and may be shared with your organisation (e.g. via your leader, chair or HR) to support follow-through.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support this onboarding process. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
8. Profile Sharing Sessions
- You’re participating voluntarily in a profile sharing conversation facilitated by a psychologist.
- The purpose of this conversation is to support mutual understanding, collaboration, and team effectiveness by sharing key insights from psychometric profiles. These conversations are not for performance management, evaluation, or formal decision-making.
- Individual psychometric reports are not typically shared or distributed. Where comparison or group-level reports are used, they will be anonymised unless all participants give permission to share identifiable information.
- These sessions are not confidential. While we aim to create a safe and respectful space, other people will hear what is said. We ask all participants to respect each other’s privacy and not share personal information from the session outside the group, unless explicitly agreed.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support this profiling conversation and related development activities. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
9. Relationship Optimisation Sessions
- You’re participating voluntarily in a relationship optimisation process facilitated by a psychologist.
- This is not mediation, conflict resolution, counselling, or an investigation. It is a forward-focused, developmental process to help two people optimise their working relationship by clarifying needs and agreeing on ways of working together constructively. We aim to create a safe and respectful environment where all participants feel comfortable contributing.
- The process may include psychometric assessments, individual preparation sessions, and a joint session with the other participant, a psychologist, and an organisational representative. Your participation in each step will be confirmed with you in advance.
- Your psychometric assessment results are confidential to you. You can choose to share insights from them during the process, but the results themselves will not be shared without your permission.
- The joint session is not confidential. Key discussion points will be summarised in a written agreement and may be shared with your organisation (e.g. via your manager or HR) to support follow-through.
- Your information will be stored securely and used only to support this relationship optimisation process. We may use anonymised insights to improve our services, in line with our Privacy Policy (https://www.winningperformance.co.nz/privacy).
